3 Reasons Why This Is a Terrible Idea
Can you use Instagram for blogging? A recent article in the New York Times showcased some high-profile influencers and celebrities using Instagram for long-form content. So it begs the question: Could you just ditch your blog and use Instagram instead?
While I’m all for new and creative uses of existing tools, I want to lay out 3 big reasons why you wouldn’t want to do this. Listen to me make my case in Episode 149 – here or in your favorite pod player.
Here are the articles I referenced in this episode:
- The Captionfluencers by Ruth La Ferla in the New York Times
- The Future of Social Media in 2019 by Michael K. Spencer
- Myspace’s Music Purge Is the Latest Careless Cultural Loss We’ll Regret by Will Cox
I’m in the middle of a series on Content Marketing 201 focused on “next-level” strategies to help you stand out when everyone’s doing content marketing. Start here for the first episode: Content Marketing 201: Beyond the Basics, or get the whole series collected here. As I mentioned in the episode, the next unit will be on blogging, in three parts:
- Optimizing for Search: Blogging 201
- Building Anticipation: Blogging 201
- Repurposing Content: Blogging 201
I invite you to subscribe so I can let you know when these new episodes publish. My email list is a feed – quick reminders, no spam, no selling your address. You select your preferences for what you receive and how often. I make it easy to unsubscribe in every message.
If you are new to the show, here’s a little bit about me. I am a practitioner who shares what I learn “in the field” in my podcast and blog. I do this for free to “pay it forward.” If you are able, fuel my efforts with a cup of coffee!
