Content Marketing 201: Beyond the Basics
Everyone is doing content marketing now. It is accepted as a strategy by businesses of all sizes that yes – you need to build a site, publish a blog, and post to social. Entice people to visit your site so you can get the opportunity to explain what you can do for your customers.
But what happens when that first visitor arrives? Can you make the sale in one visit? Not likely, if you’re new or unknown. This is why “getting traffic” is a fallacy. You can have new visitors showing up once… and then leaving, never to come back. Do this over and over, and guess what? The results aren’t going to improve.
The solution to this is to build a pathway. To guide a new visitor from your very first “meeting” through dozens of points of contact until they become a willing and excited customer. Here’s the rub though: All this needs to be set up in advance – before that very first visit. Web, blog, social, email, and online store.
If not, the pathway leads nowhere. Listen to Episode 148 to start planning the pathway for your customers.
